The Living Wage Foundation is pleased to announce that Suzanne Lynch Design has today accredited as a Living Wage employer.

The Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Suzanne Lynch Design, regardless of whether they are permanent employees or third-party contractors; receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.40 - significantly higher than the national minimum wage of £6.70 and the new minimum wage premium for over 25s of £7.20 per hour set to be introduced this April.

The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for the UK. Decisions about what to include in this standard are set by the public; it is a social consensus about what people need to make ends meet.

Employers choose to pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The Living Wage enjoys cross party support, with public backing from the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

Living Wage Foundation Director, Sarah Verosaid: “We are delighted to welcome Suzanne Lynch Design to the Living Wage movement as an accredited employer.

“The best employers are voluntarily signing up to pay the Living Wage now. The Living Wage is a robust calculation that reflects the real cost of living, rewarding a hard day’s work with a fair day’s pay.

“We have accredited over 2,000 leading employers, including Suzanne Lynch Design, ranging from independent printers, bookshops and breweries, to well-known companies such as Nationwide, Aviva and SSE. These businesses recognise that clinging to the national minimum wage is not good for business. Customers expect better than that."

The SLD team were in Hong Kong recently for a 10-day trip to some of the largest tradeshows in the world. Part of our regular program of tradeshows and factory visits it gives us a unique opportunity to see existing suppliers, potential new suppliers, interesting new ideas and some very wacky ones. These visits are a core part in our mission to source the best corporate gifts and merchandise available.

Billed as the largest of its kind in the world, The Hong Kong Electronics fair is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai. The Hong Kong Electronics Fair presents all kinds of electronics products and services such as audio-visual products, branded electronics, eco-friendly products, navigation systems, new inventions, telecommunications products and testing, inspection & certification services. It is the best place to see the latest gadgets and toys before they hit the promotional merchandise market and to be up on the latest trends.

The Hong Kong Megashow is one of the largest and most important sourcing trade exhibitions for corporate merchandise, gifts, premiums, lifestyle products, toys & games and stationery in the Asia-Pacific region. The show is a regular fixture of the autumn Southern China sourcing circuit for global buyers.

A relative newcomer, the Global Sources Electronics Fair now claims to be the world’s largest electronics sourcing show with approaching 6000 booths in two phases over 10 days. The show is gaining a reputation as a showcase to discover the newest and most creative electronics coming out of China and Asia.

With three major fairs in 10 days and many, many meetings with suppliers both at the fairs and outside, these trips help us to cement our relationships with key suppliers. It is these partnerships that keep SLD at the leading edge of corporate merchandise and maintain our top quality standards.
